Is anyone aware of a way to get haupblast to send the "enter" signal both before and after the channel number? If my set top box is off, sending enter will turn the box on (since sometimes the box gets turned off using our universal remote).

haupblast.exe just asks the Hauppauge blastcfg app to send the channel number, so you'd need to look in there for options like this.

Thanks, sub. That's what I figured, but for some odd reason the codeset for my STB doesn't support "send power on" before channel option (in the blastcfg app). If I am able to determine a workaround - perhaps calling haupconfig twice - I'll post it.

I don't know what box you are trying to control, but a common problem is that the "power on" signal is only a toggle and used for both on and off ;(
You could try asking Hauppauge if there was a way, but AFAIK they are only buying in Zilog code to drive their blaster device.

In my case I don't want to send a "power" signal, but rather the "enter" signal (the same signal I would send after I type my channel number in). This is because when my STB is off, it can be turned on either using the "power" or "enter" signal (when the STB is "off" it still displays a messages that reads "press enter to start viewing" or some such nonsense). Thus, the signal I want to send is not a on/off toggle, but will always either be a power on or (if the box is already on) an enter channel signal.

you could just always leave the thing on... since turning it off has absolutely no power savings... same thing happens on my box... but it just changes it output to a black frame... which I noticed when I turned it off for the first time and my TV didnt go to standby... which it usually does when I turn something off. really annoying, not to mention not environmentally friendly!

The reason that I couldn't just leave it on all the time is that the proprietary universal remote that works with my cable box automatically turns both the cable box and the tv box off when you turn the tv off. I could (and do) turn the tv off on the set itself or using the original tv remote, but all too frequently my wife uses the cable remote to turn off the tv - and (inadvertently) the STB.

you still allow your cable box to be controlled by a remote? that could mess up some recordings. I would suggest, 1. hiding the remote, or 2. covering the IR port.

to reduce the risk of messing up recordings, you can create two separate capture sources, that work on the same tuner. just set them to the same tuner # and GB-PVR will be smart and not try to use both.
set one up to use the coax input and record all of the analog channels you get, use the other for the channels that you have to use the STB for.
just a suggestion Smile
