My Scientific Atlanta 2100 has RCA video and audio out going into my PVR-150. Viewing TV looks "softer" in GB-PVR compared to what comes out of the cable box direct to TV. Using the cable box remote (no blaster), when a channel is changed it takes 2 or 3 seconds for it to show on the TV - normally channel changing takes less than 1 second.

What kind of config settings will make channel changing "instant" and make the picture quality better?

Then I have a question about picking a channel changer using the blaster, I have no clue about which option to pick in the config dropdown list.

My hardware
Compaq D510 SFF (P4-2.5HGz)
NVIDIA GeForce 6200
Single 160gb IDE drive
XP Pro
Dedicated to GB-PVR

Thanks for taking mercy on a newbie. Yes I have run through the forums and stuff.

I don't think you can get round the delay. The pvr150 converts the analogue signal to digital, compresses it to mpeg and then the reverse has to happen when displaying it.
There is a setting in config about livetv or livepreview, you may be able to tweak that to reduce the delay a little.

If you have the pvr150 blaster setup and working with Hauppauge's BlastCfg program then you setup in config for the tuner source "exe changer plugin" and it's settings something like C:program files\devnz\gbpvr\haupblast.exe

I'd recommend trying to bump up the Sharpness on the PVR150 - that's the only setting I have changed on mine. That will help with the softness.

You can change this using the Tweak Tool or in graphedt.

There will always be a delay when changing channels, especially when using an external tuner. Mine takes 3secs or so also. Using the internal PVR150 tuner for regular cable only takes 1.5-2seconds.

Make sure you have "Live Preview Mode" turned on in the config (under Misc) tab.

If you're getting the blaster to change channels, you must have it selected properly :p. What you want is the .exe Changer Plugin I believe.

The problem with using the internal tuner is that you only get the first 125 channels (no HBO, etc that is in the 300's), right? Is there a way to map the 125 available channels to maybe 125 that I'd actually want? Or should I spend more $ for a different in-card with a bigger tuner?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure there can only be 125 analog cable channels. Other channel numbers above this are most likely digital cable, which are carried an entirely different way so couldnt be tuned in by you PVR150 anyway.

You can of course connect your cable box to your PVR150, and have GB-PVR recording the current cable channel. By adding an IR Blaster, GB-PVR can also tell your cable box to change channels when it needs to.
