This is weird. I just installed the DivX codec and now when I view a DivX video file, my remote stops working. When I stop playing the DivX file, the remote works again. This problem does not occur when I play .mpg files.

My remote is a Fusion Remote that uses the Dvico USB receiver and associated Fusion Remote application that maps remote functions to keyboard commands.

This might be the wrong place to ask this, but maybe someone else with the same hardware has seen this behavior.

Is there an alternative DivX codec I can use? Does the Xvid codec work for both DivX and Xvid?

Thanks

Its the divx decoder stealing the focus when it creates its tray icon. If you do a forum search on the key words 'divx focus' then you'll find a pile of threads on the topic and various fixes.

uninstall divx and get the k-lite mega codec pack, it will fix all of your problems.

Turn off your PC and read a book. Now there's no problem.

Sorry, I couldn't resist Big Grin

I've had problems with DIVX, also. I've had good luck with the K-lite package Oz mentioned.

the mega pack seems overkill if all he want to do is playback divx files.. I'd go with Stu;s advice and simply install xvid instead and associate it with divx files during installation.

works for me.

Personally, I use FFDSHOW for non mpeg decoding.
It seems to have a decoder for every format available & allows me to pick & choose what needs to have Post processing applied to it.
