I wonder if anyone can help with this irritating problem. I've been through the Wiki http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FAQ/E...sages#toc3
but the 'device type check' utility is not working for me (nothing appears in the box).
I'm running a Hauppauge Nova-T 500 dual tuner setup. As far as I know my tuners are all set up work and recordings happen. However every time I restart the computer I get that message

'No tuners are available watch the requested channel....'

when I start live TV in PVXR2.

So the simple way I get it to start up again is go into config.exe and just accept 'OK'.
I have the following pludgins configured: EPGExtras, TV Listings, Weather, Search Wiz2, Movie Wiz. I have 2 muxes registered (cyberlink THMpgMux(5.0.0.2022).ax and ATI Mpg mux atidvcr.dll). I'm wondering if a batch file command might be messing me up? All I have running is:
XmltvExtras.exe "C:\Program Files\devnz\xmltv.xml"
EPGExtra > EPGExtra.log and a grabber "C:\Program Files\XMLTV GUI\XmltvGUI.exe" /Grab in post update and updateepg.bat Any clues anyone, or perhaps I someone can show me how to set up a batch file to start config.exe and hit ok on start up. Thanks for any help.

What EPG source did you have your two capture sources set to use?

Thats only intended for telling the difference between some of the analog Hauppauge capture devices. Your device is digital so not meant to be used with this utility.

I'm using the radio times listings through the Birtles grabber XMLTV GUI. Sorry if my terminology is a bit out. Still trying to make heads or tails of the whole PVR thing.

So I got it down to this: The recording service seems to need restarting (thats what is reported when config screen is okayed). Something must be interrupting the normal start up of GBBPVR. So I'm going to try this as a quick fix. Batch file with 'sleep 10' and then the usual recording service restart script put in windows start up. If it helps someone debug, this problem seemed to start after I was registering muxes to get the best performance from the software. I found some cyberlink stuff in the forum links. So registered them. I'm currently decoding with Cyberlink/SP Decoder something! and getting audio through system default which is ATI or realtek as far as I know. I don't know how ffdshow fits into this whole picture. If I select it, it seems to slow down gbpvr during channel changes etc. I think a lot of my problems is understanding how to get the best config. I still can't get teletext as my stable settings limit me to using live TV. Should it work? Thanks for any advice again.

Well that delay command in restarting the record service in xp startup didn't seem to work, still get no tuners error. You see I have gbpvrtray.exe and IR.exe (hauppauge) startign up same time. I figured the sequence matters. When I execute 'restart recording service' batch file manually the tuners work however. So I'm well confused now !
Oh Well....

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Hi,thanks for the prompt replies. I winrar the logs sorry dont have zip right now and in hurry to get out. There are many instances of the same file, suppose its cos of all the config changes. You'll know better than me which is relevant in the numbered files. Im still having the problem without the restart recording service invoked. Thanks for your work on this. I keep discoverign new issues after solving old ones, but feel I'm getting closer to my ideal setup. I'd be very happy to reinstall the whoe thing to sort out this latest round of irritations, if you can give me tips. I seem to retain bits of settings on reinstall and I dont have a restore point to go back to the first gbpvr install.
Lastly, if you can give me a tip on this new issue I'd be very grateful cos I've been at this particular one for hours. Channel changes are very slow suddenly and I noticed that every time the PVRX2 opens it starts in recording mode even though its set to live TV in config. This happens when I'm trying to go straight into TV using (-direct "Live TV") switch. Thanks again.

What capture sources do you have setup, what device does each have selected, and what are the device numbers set to?

I went for BDA Recording plugin, then selected my twin tuner clicking the box 'only show devices detected on this machine'. It gives me 4 choices which seem to be duplicates with named pairs:
Hauppauge Nova-T 500 DVBT (1) and then with number '(2)' The other is Hauppauge Nova-DT #1 DVB-T and then same with '#2' (no apostrophie of course). I set it up with the first 2 I named. I set the pair up with 'Device number' 1. I tried the first set because I was experiencing the freeze ups in opening PVRX2.
