sound no picture??

I am running an MSI capture card with the ATI550 pro chipset. I recently updated to v1.1.5 from v1.0.8 which was working flawlessly.

It seems now after the update when I go in to watch live tv, I can hear the sound but I can't see the picture. I have also found that when I do a manual recording, again I can't see the picture but I can hear the sound both during the recording or if I try to watch a saved recording using GBPVRx2.

However, if I replay the recorded video using another program like nero or windows media player, then I can see the picture fine.

I also used Nero to verify if my capture card is working properly and it seems that I do get a picture while watching live tv so I don't think the problem is with the capture card.

Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot or what I should do next?

What video decoder do you have selected on the playback tab of the config app?

under the Hardware Decoder Device: None - use software decoder

under the software MPEG-2 Playback: Video Decoder is set to system default.

What should it be changed to? My choices are:
Nero Video Decoder and MPEG Video decoder but selecting either of them doesn't seem to change anything.

Try installing the MPV decoder from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm, then try using it.

That was it!! thanks much for your help on this. Not sure what I did during the upgrade. The only thing I can think of is that I recently uninstalled cyberlink, which I don't use, and maybe that deleted something that needed to remain in place for GBPVR to work properly?

The Cyberlink video decoder was most likely your system default MPEG2 decoder, and when you uninstalled it the flakey Nero decoder became the default.
