I have been using GBPVR for the past month or so and have been generally pleased. I have a MVP connected via s-video to a 16x9 TV and it seems that every file except my personal widescreen DVD rips play in zoomed mode.
How can I get the videos to play without cropping the sides?

I have installed the Hauppauge software and set the resolution on the MVP to 16x9 and of couse set the aspect ratio to 16x9 in the GBPVR config. I have tried making changes in the config.xml but with no successful. When I play the movies in PVRX2 on my PC, the screen is formated properly. For instance a video with a resolution of 640x272 should have black bars on the top and bottom not cropped on the ends as it is on my tv.

I thought that Zprocess2 might correct this issue but have not been able to get this work. The unit reboots on the first attempt and then returns to video menu on each successive attempt but I will wait for a response before I create a separate thread for this.

Well, after 3 weeks of configuring without the desired results, I finally figured out the exact settings in the config.xml within 24 hours of posting my message.

While I still have a 20 pixel band on the bottom with some 2.21 or 16x9 videos, there is no stretching or distortion on any of the 40 or so files I have tried.

<MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLineNTSC>-y -i "{SOURCE_FILE}" -b 2400k -ac 2 -ab 128 -r 29.97 -s 720x400 -padtop 10 -padbottom 10 -aspect 1.7777 -f svcd "{DEST_FILE}"</MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLineNTSC>

<MVPSpecificSettings>
<MAC-DEFAULT>
<!-- this functionality is not complete yet, so dont attempt to use it -->
<MVPBrightness>75</MVPBrightness>
<!-- pal/ntsc/auto -->
<MVPVideoStandard>ntsc</MVPVideoStandard>
<!-- none/high/medium/low -->
<MVPFlickerFilter>medium</MVPFlickerFilter>
<!-- true/false -->
<MVP16x9Mode>true</MVP16x9Mode>
<!-- 0=RGB,1=composite,2=svideo -->
<MVPOutput>2</MVPOutput>
<!-- position -->
<MVPWidth>700</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>400</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>10</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>40</MVPOffsetY>
</MAC-DEFAULT>
