I just built a HTPC machine and I have heard great things about GBPVR.

Before I install I was wondering if you could please answer some of my questions.

1. Can you have multiple DVD directories in your list like foreign, HD, sports, TV shows.. etc.

2. Does GBPVR have thumbnail support? Pictures of the movies next to the names in the directories?

3. Does GBPVR have support to list MAME video games?

4. Can GBPVR use a different media player of my chosing for movie playing? Like WinDVD, PowerDVD or Windows Media Player Classic?

Thanks!

One thing that's great about GBPVR, if a feature does not exist, someone can (and probably will at some point if there is enough interest) write a plugin to provide that feature.

There are a couple of plugins that most likely will provide functionality close to what you are looking for. You might take a look at Video Archive, XRecord and MovieWiz.

yes. Both in the native plugins as well as many of the community developed plugins.
Quote:3. Does GBPVR have support to list MAME video games?
I don't do games via GBPVR, but there is a plugin called GameZone that should handle them.
Quote:4. Can GBPVR use a different media player of my chosing for movie playing? Like WinDVD, PowerDVD or Windows Media Player Classic?
I can't speak for some of the other plugins, but MovieWiz does support that feature.

See the Wiki for details: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/Plugin You'll probably want to stick with the plugins written for 1.1.5 (current version).

Whoa, MovieWiz can have GBPVR use an external player? Is this the holy grail I've been waiting for: play files at 1.5x or 2x speed with audio (via PowerDVD)? I will have to test that out.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

Ka-ching! I've been looking for this also. I'm checking it out!

Yeah, so far I don't see an easy way to close the external application. I'm still using a hacked Twinhan remote with limited functionality until my MCE remote shows up hopefully tomorrow, but mashing buttons had it change A/R and skip forward, etc, so there is hope. Whoever figures it out should probably start a new thread with the specific solution.

just had a thought about the exit back to main screen from power dvd
i havent actually tried it on my main machine that has a mce remote just from keyboard on laptop so i guess the back button may work on remote

alt=f4 does close it from keyboard ,so you could map that to remote using HiP or eventghost

Just got my MCE remote and plugged it in. Yeah, the close button on it looks to close any program including the computer itself. Can't get most of the other buttons to work, but now I see only remote version 1 is directly supported, and this one is generic and apparently isn't version 1. Now to look around and see if anyone already has a Hip file for it.

The Twinhan card's remote had basic functions after changing a few keys in config, but the PC wouldn't get past the first boot screen with the the USB infrared plugged in. Looks like this new remote fixed that, at least.

.
HipGuide2

Bottom of the page download, Myhip.hip.txt - load it in Hip, change the exe to be PVRX2 and then run PVRX2, then click show classes in Hip, and select the one for PVRX2. Close that window and click run - that's what did it for me...

maybe this will help with powerdvd shortcut keys
http://www.keyxl.com/aaab43b/275/PowerDV...rtcuts.htm

I think though for play/ff/rw they are the generic windows codes if you can figure that out.

As for external players, I use VLC for my DVD playing and I use stop to get out of the external player. This almost makes it feel like it's integrated into GBPVR except for the fact that it doesn't open up in fullscreen and you can see the interface for 2 seconds. It's a minor detail, but it annoys the heck out of me.
