Figured I'd toss this out there since Movie Wizard has been out for awhile, but it was only recently I found out buried in a thread that it can launch external video players. Movie Wiz can do other cool stuff, too, but I don't think there's been a workable plugin for external players since PVRx2 came out, so I thought it deserved its own headline.

Besides other uses for external players, the true greatness comes from PowerDVD doing what I know of no other player being able to do: play video smoothly in fast-forward with audio. This is the only reason I keep PowerDVD around anymore.

My generic MCE remote showed up today. Installed HIP and got the main GBPVR functions working. I can't get the remote to use the PowerDVD speed control with one button, but one button on my remote does bring up the PowerDVD menu window which lets me choose the fast-forward speed with the arrow and enter buttons, so that's not bad for now.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

It looks like the only reason my remote works at all on PowerDVD is luck. I have forward and backward 5-second skip via Channel +/- keys, Play via enter/go, menu via the More button, and that's about it so far.

I searched for all the HIP/MCE remote threads and plowed through them earlier. I did already try your template, but even downloading it twice I can't get ANY GBPVR functions to show up. I can see the PowerDVD and Winamp ones on the HIP screen, but highlighting GBPVR listed in the #1 position just shows a big, white blank at the bottom where the functions should be.

I don't see any specific "MCE USB" type device in my USB in control panel, so I didn't know what to update the HIP driver to. I think that is mainly only for if HIP acts like you double-pressed the buttons, and it cuts off the OS-specific functions. I'm using MCE XP 2005 and haven't had any double-pressing problems so far.

The MCE remote is a generic one. It has the color buttons, but I don't know what version it actually is. I never use Windows Media Center otherwise, but the remote did seem to work fine with it the ten minutes I played with it.

Also tried the wiki MCE remote file, but I couldn't get the remote to respond. I was messing with it in so many ways I'm not fully sure how it's currently setup, but I think it also didn't respond to HIP at all until I used your file (but which, like I said, showed no GBPVR commands). Either that, or it only responds with no pre-made file used. I think I'm using yours, though. The arrows and enter already worked, so I added in the basic other functions for now.

Not sure why I can't even get Pause to work for PowerDVD through HIP since that's as simple a command as it gets (spacebar). But I did get Pause working on GBPVR along with FF/REW skip etc.

I'm not fully sure of the need for your "red button", but I did put that in, and if it's to press Red Button and then 4 (or whatever # the alternate program's functions are assigned to in HIP) to switch the remote into that mode for that program, I can't get that to do anything.

So, not sure why HIP doesn't like PowerDVD. Still messing with it. PDVD is version 7.3.

Btw, when I say HIP didn't work with whatever file, I mean when you want to add a function and it asks you to press a button on the remote for what button you want to add, it wouldn't respond to any of the buttons.

yeah i dont need to map the gbpvr any they just work if you select mce remote in gbpvr config i only use hip to start gbpvr
i have the same set up on 2 machines and both work fine this way

the red button
if you hit the red button then the number it opens that function aswell as making sure the focus is on that program
if it ever loses focus (very rare) this gets the focus back
