Quote:is the mx440 just to weak? what standard do i need for pvrx2?

I think the new PVRX2 interface is Direct3D based and doesn't support overlay, so running in VMR9 maybe a little too much for your GC. As far as I know any DirectX9 card and up should do fine, so anything released really in the last 3-4 years.

Does that pertain to HD content as well? My ATI 9550 (256MB) is compatible with DirectX9, but my HD playback is choppy. Are their different standards for HD content?

I found that my 9600XT was not up to playing back 1080i or 1080p content.

The MX440 is definately fit for the job. I have one and it is fine now I have the DScaler codecs and VMR9 FSE.

No I don't think so, I think the choppy HD playback has more to do with the lack of real HD hardware acceleration on your GC. Without it decoding HD streams becomes an extremely intensive task which is passed to the CPU.

Real world trumps theory Smile
