I'm using a couple of PVR150 cards and have the timpstamp issue that I'm sorting out but I have a more general question on the built in encoder.

According to Hauppauge the card supports a number of formats, for example the DVD rate is 6400 with a peak of 8000 and the Long Play DVD is 4800 with a peak of 6200, audio is at 384 on 48KHz for both. Does this mean I have to set the bitrates in PVR config to match one of these examples? The default High Quality in GBPVR is 5500/9000 224 at 48KHz but this doesn't match any of the predefined Hauppauge ones.

If you are going to burn recordings to DVD it makes sense to adjust your recording bitrate in order to avoid lengthy conversions to make your recordings fit on a standard DVD.

There is a bit rate calculator floating around that can help you estimate a recordings size.

Thanks for your input, but what I was trying to say was can I set any bitrate or is the PVR150 limited to a specific set of values? I have to say it's a lot better once the timestamp issue has been sorted (well hopefully sorted).

Set it at what you want, I do and it works fine.
