MVP live HD TV

I have a WinTV-HVR-1600 and am wondering what I need to do (or if it is possible) to allow the TV with the MVP connected to it to be able to watch Live HD TV programs. I realize that it will not be in HD, but curious if it can be done.

The HD video needs to be transcoded or downsized, to make it a smaller size to be transmitted to the MVP. I've been working on on the fly transcoding of recorded content, but Live TV is a whole different ball of wax...

Watching HD mpeg-ts files as I discussed a bit here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=31574 is possible and you could watch in process recordings but not live tv.

Recorded HD TV is no problem, even a five or ten-minute buffered headstart might be enough to get through a 30-minute "almost live" program, but truly live HD TV doesn't play longer than about five seconds for me.

I don't use the MVP TV much, so I never got around to installing the mkv patch in the other thread. 1080 x.264 plays, and 1080 mpeg2 TV recorded with Cyberlink mux plays. Never tried playing much else besides non-HD divx/xvid AVIs, which play too, of course.

If you can live with recording shows and watching them 30 or 60 minutes later, that at least can work.

I'm wondering if live TV stopping after a few seconds has to do with something besides CPU power or network bandwidth. A couple people in one of the other threads could only watch five or so seconds of HD live TV on the MVP with "mild" CPUs, but with my C2D at 3ghz I only get five seconds too. And it can't be the network bandwidth because that works fine for non-live 1080 on the MVP.
