If I try to record a program that has already passed its start time, it seems that the only way to get PVRX2 to actually record the program is to Restart the Recording Service.

Is there any way to avoid having to do this?

It should have no problems starting the recording mid way through without having to restart anything. I do it all the time.

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

I have attached the log files. They are large because I set CONFIG to be in DEBUG mode to give you as much information as possible. There is also a TXT file which shows the timeline of when I took the various actions. I tried to take each action far enough apart so they would be easy to relate to the timeline.

Before I rebooted the computer at the begining of the timeline, I deleted all previous logs and the ZIP file contains all files that were in the LOG directory after the test.

It appears to be happening because PVRX2.exe is unable to communicate with GBPVRRecordingService.exe, to tell it to reload the recording list. This will be because you have some firewall software getting in the way of this communication.

Thanks for the quick response.

I assume that both problems (the entry in TV Guide not updating to show it in the red color and the program not beginning to record) are due to the same issue.

I tried changing the settings for PVRX2 and GBPVRREcordingService and it didn't make a difference. I then tried it with the firewall disabled so it would block nothing and it still had the problem.

I will keep trying to see if the firewall is doing this.

If it were a firewall issue, wouldn't it also happen if I try to select/record a program that starts in the future?

Restarting the recording service causes the it to reload the recording list. It'll also reload it from time to time automatically. Its only more time critical when you want to start a recording instantly.

Its definitely the problem I mentioned. The error is pretty clear in the logs:
Quote:2008-02-23 07:12:15.639 ERROR [1] Unexpected error: GBPVR.Backend.Common.GbpvrException: Failed to communicate with the Recording Service.

Thans for the clarification.

I'll keep experimenting with the firewall settings.

sorry sub, I just noticed the error you mentioned was not at the time the recording was started.
At the start-time of the recording (7.09) there was this error:

I noticed there are a lot of plugins being loaded, could the problem be in there?
