I have several series, like Battlestar Galactica that have the name of the show and the name of the episode. Moviewiz never seems to find these. Is there a way to prep these better so the episodes can be found, or does the web lookup not look for series/episodes, only movies?

Alternatively, if an episode specific match can't be found, is there a way to get the same cover art for all the episodes? That way, at least there's a picture to go with them even though not a description other than the title. I guess this is like a mass picture tagging type function.

Can you give me some examples, I will take a look at the logic to see if we can get a better hit ratio

Sounds like a pretty good idea, I think JKSmurf asked for something like this (in regards to the description and some of the other text fields).

Would this work? For the series, one of the entries could be marked as 'default' (ie a series is defined as a set of entries with the same title and different episode name). If on a lookup, the Title/Episode is not found, the data from the 'default' entry will be loaded (text fields and show image (minus episode name)) for that episode.

Actually my request was similar, that you input (manually) one set of data you get from wherever (and one thumbnail) and copy that to all subsequent shows you want to copy to.

Yes, what jksmurf said.

An example, I record Sabrina episodes for my daughter, so here is one:

Sabrina, the Teenage Witch - Unplugged.avi
Sabrina, the Teenage Witch - Witch Way Out.avi

Sometimes they are numbered:

Kyle XY - SE1E01.avi
Kyle XY - SE1E02.avi ..etc..

I think I understand what you are looking for, will this work?

You record the first Sabrina show (Unplugged). It does not find the episode.
  • You manually setup the entry by keying in the related text fields (description, categories....)
  • You manually locate a thumbnail image
  • You mark this entry as the Default (new flag) for the recordings with Sabrina as the title.
When another Sabrina recording occurs (ie Witch way out), and the episode lookup does not get a hit, the default show ('Unplugged', since the default flag is on), will provide the content (including thumbnail) for this new entry.

Additionally (or alternately), there could be a dialog in the Manager program, that when on a particular show entry, would list all show entries where the default flag was set. You could select from that list to provide data for the current entry.

I'd say both are really clever, as the first does shows that are not yet recorded, while the latter does shows that are already in the system (and not assigned a name).

Sorry for the delay JW, I sometimes post too much and forget where I posted to :p.

That sounds great. However, the picture lookup would be helpful instead importing it in manually if possible. So, when I click lookup art if it shows up in one of the databases somewhere (like perhaps the name is close enough, even though there are multiple episodes) it will add the picture in and then I can proceed as you stated above with the rest of it.

I hope I'm making sense.

Thanks
