I think I found the answer to this in an old thread (the answer being 'no'), but how much event information can be put out by gbpvr?

All I'm trying to do is put out a text file indicating the current video playing or current song (the song would be icing on the cake, but I really want the video) to a text file for use with LCD smartie for a VFD display.

I'm not really interested in anything like next recording or anything. I couldn't get the iMon plugin to work either, but it's overkill for what I want.

Any ideas?

The current channel, video file, song file info is available to plugins that support the IEventNotification interface.

I bet that's .NET thing, right? I'm not .NET literate (i Is a college student lol)

I'm getting a little crazy here, but I might just do this:

I'm not really up on .bat file windows syntax at all. However, I'm pretty good with *nix scripting. I was thinking of loading cygwin, and using a bash script to parse (awk and sed are my friends) the pvrx2 log files in real time and pump out the data I want. I may do that, but if there's an easier way I'd like to try that.

None of the plugins have worked for me when it comes to my display. My VFD display uses irtrans instead of whatever iMON and the like use. I never got iMON to work for me, but smartie works with the irtrans driver fine.

On second thought, that might be a long way to go. I used program in old skoool visual basic, so maybe sharp or something else might not be too bad. I'll have to see if I can make time to look into that.

one of the imon plugins [there are at least 2] puts out a text file instead if you don't have an imon display..i'm using it now..i even made some changes to fix the dvd paths problem but haven't released that part..

here's the one that should do what you want..i'm using it for just that..

Added the ability to output information to a text file for use in programs that can use a .txt file input (such as LCDSmartie).
