Borrowed a device that can capture MPEG2 data streams directly from a cable box, creating .ts files. They play fine on a PC using VLC but when I play them back using gbpvr they start out with audio/video slightly out of sync. If I then exit the file and play again, the playback speeds up to 3x or 4x times regular speed which is very strange behaviour.

Anybody have any idea why this could be happening?

Thanks

There is a known issue with playing .ts files in the current release of GB-PVR. There was a patch here somewhere, when combined with setting <UseBuiltInTSReader>false</UseBuiltInTSReader> in config.xml, will correct this playback problem. You need to have a third party TS filter like Haali Splitter or HDTV Pump installed though.

So you need this patch to watch the DVB-T broadcasts also since I am guessing they are .ts files. Out of interest I tried to play m2ts files (converted from .ts so that the PCH and PS3 can play them) and it just hung. You might find something useful in the log - something about a fatal error.

Thanks

OK - made all the changes recommended including installint HDTV Pump, change in config.xml and still can't play the files. They are either jerky, stop prematurely or don't play at all. BTW these are all files captured from TelstraClear cable TV

Thanks

Did you install the patch I mentioned above? Its here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=17

If HDTV Pump is doing its thing you should now be able to play these .ts files in WMP. With the patch installed, and UseBuiltInTSReader set to false, it'll use the default playback filters for .ts files in GB-PVR, which will give you the same results as WMP.

All this of couse assumes these TelstraClear .ts files contain unencrypted video. You wont get anything if the channel is encrypted.

Yes I did - it looked just like a directshow filter so I registered it. The TCL files were unencrypted and play fine in VLC (recorded using a Dreambox 500C). But I can't play the files in WMP11. It just crashes so maybe that's why gbpvr can't play them either.

Must be something strange in my PC setup but no idea what it is

If its not playing in WMP, then it wont play in GB-PVR either. Maybe try uninstalling HDTV Pump, and install the Haali Splitter instead.

OK - that seemed to work. I can now view all the shows in WMP11 (even the Beyonce and Robin Hood HD files out there but the video is corrupt since I don't have a video card with acceleration installed). However gbpvr still has problems. On one file there appears to be a filter failure (see attached log) while the others show no errors in the log but either don't play, play jerkily or terminate prematurely.

One other thing I must try is to choose a different MPEG2 codec for playback (currently set to using Cyberlink's one out of PDVD7 Ultra). Would that make a difference?

Thanks

I sounds like you dont have that patch applied correctly. Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Maybe. Decoders + PCs dont seem to be an exact science. Many people get different results with different decoders.

OK sub, problem fixed. When you said there was a patch for .ts file I looked around found this

http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=17

In fact that wasn't the one you referred to your last post. When I applied that, all is well now.

Thanks for the quick help
