Newbie Questions

I have yet to start using gbpvr yet but I am trying to get some questions asked before I start. I currently have an older Dell SC420 server that I will be using as the media box. At this current time I don't plan on recording any TV programming as I have DirecTV satellite and I don't want to deal with a IR Blaster, plus I have dual TiVo units recording all my shows. Here is my plan. I will be using gbpvr along with a MVP to stream my backed up DVD's to a TV, question is do I have to convert the vob files to mpeg for gbpvr to work? What type of settings do I need to configure in gbpvr? and what codec’s will I need? I am hoping to get this working soon as my daughter is slowly ruining our DVD's. Please let me know if you need any more information. Thanks.

The MVP cant natively play DVDs, so you'd have to rip the DVDs to MPEG2 files. I've not personally done it so cant advise you want tools you'd use.
