Ok. That setting takes the only GB-PVR written component out of the live tv playback, so its got to be either the capture device drivers, the Microsoft Demultiplexer, the Video/Audio decoders, or the selected Video Renderer or Audio renderer....

I should be able to use graph edit to see the decoder and render being used when pvrx2 or the config tool is playing live tv. - is that right?

I have removed video LAN player and real player just in case they were causing any problem. I've reinstalled the drivers for the nova-S and the interVideo drivers.
No change it still crashes.

I can't see what the config is using to play the video but it works. It also works in winTV.

Could it be something with the monitoring of signal strength? What else is different between DVB-S and T playing.

I don't want to have to go back to 1.1.5 but If I did can I install over the top or just copy the main exe to try it?

Also the signal stength and quality is high when I see the levels in winTV

I reinstalled a clone of the disk that I took a month ago, v1-1-5 without the changes I recently made. The only thing I had installed was videoReDo.

It still crashes. So I reinstalled the latest setup and no change but noticed the following.

It plays fine on the client PC. It also plays some channels for a lot longer before failing.
I also notice that if I can pause it before it crashes then it wait a bit then start playing (ie it's in timeshift mode) then it plays ok.
I assume that playing in timeshift is a bit like recording. So I have the option to set the sat as my recording tuner so I get a DBV-T tuner for watching.
Alternatively, I could set the liveTV to be timeshift move.

Question about timeshift mode.
Which setting is the one to enable timeshift mode when watching live TV?
Can this be set per tuner?
Is there a negative impact on the disk? ie it will wear it out!?

Thanks for you patience - maybe with this extra info it might tigger some pointers to the real problem.

cheers

Untick the 'use live preview mode' setting in the config app.

No.

It'd probably take quite a bit to wear the disk out, but it will be writing to the disk all the time, and will have much slower channel change times.

OK - thanks

The timeshift mode does the advantage of going back in time to the bit I missed because I dropped the popcorn down the edge of the seat Smile and if the disk wears out - well good excuse for a bigger one (I've almost filled the 500GB !!)

I bought an MVP at the weekend Smile watch out for more questions.... no hiding now Smile

thanks
