Ok, so I made a recording of CSI last night, in what looks like 1080i.

Now I'm not quite ready to jump though the hoops to get this to play back on my GBPVR system, and so would like to convert it to something a bit more common - XVID etc. Keeping it as HD.

Now remembering the NZ stuff is h.264 with AAC audio (for non New Zealanders) - any one know of a tool for converting it?? I've tried gordian knott, and that didn't like it. I've tried a transcode as well, and that did nothing.

I dont know of any software that would currently be able to do this. Very few apps handle H.264. Even less handle the AAC LATM audio.

I suspect in time we'll see new versions of ffmpeg etc that cope with it, but not yet.

yeah that's what I've found....it possible I'd strip the audio, since I've never recreated the capture source I don't expect it to be there.

Even things like VLC wont play it..
