When GPBVR requests a new Recording on filename and my pluging successfully starts a mpg stream to that filename - does GBPVR lock it?

What I'd like to do is to have pre streamed liveTV - when GPBVR asks for a recording then I can just hardlink to the prestreamed source file, making for a instant tuning request.

This works fine the first time, but the second request causes the GBPVR screen to blank. If I just copy the stream then its ok.

Why am I trying this? two things:
- It allows for the possibilities of multiple virtual tuners hooked to the same physical tuner allowing for overlapping recordings on the same tuner, also DVB multirec support.

- Live TV channel flipping becomes very fast.

I can work around file locking, but would be easier if I didn't have to Smile

It doesnt do anything to a recording, unless its played, like in a live tv situation or if the user later plays a recording. If the file is open for playback, then you'd problems deleting it etc.

Its the LiveTV situation I'm having a problem with. When starting a recoding for LiveTV I'm not creating a new file, rather creating a Hard Link to a prexisiting MPG. When switching to a new channel I then create a new hard link to the same MPG. This is when the PVRX2 livetv display goes blank. I wondered if it was because it had a exclusive file handle open to the file or something.

It opens the files with share read/write enabled, but you obviously cant yank a file out from under it while it as the file open and is in the process of playing it.

I'm not doing anything to the original file - just using
CreateHardLink to create links to it when a new file is requested via startRecording or startNewFile. The original hardlink is left untouched.

Sorry, I dont know. GB-PVR isnt doing anything special. It opens the file (with share read/write), reads data from it, then closes it when its done with playback.

Ok, thanks - I'll play with it a bit more.
