I have searched and read a few posts, and believe that I have a problem which is not gbpvr's fault, but would still like advice on how to solve it, if anyone has any.

I have gbpvr hooked up to a 1080p sony tv, and tv works but when I try and play HD mkv files they always play at the wrong aspect ratio, with pillar boxing that should not be there. I understand that this is due to the directshow graph that is being chosen by directshow to render the file. What I want to know is how best I can determine the graph being used when GBPVR renders the file and the graph when MPC renders the file, and how I can change what gets used in the graph.

Also when launched by GBPVR none of my remotes buttons work anymore, so Ican't pause, rew, ff etc. they work with live tv.

Any ideas suggestions would be appreciated...

You can see the list of filters that was used in the graph in the pvrx2.exe-native.log file.

When it comes to mkv files, GB-PVR just askes directshow to renderer the graph, effectively letting the system decide what filters to use, and how they should be hooked up. You can see this same behaviour by selecting the 'render media file' menu option in GraphEdit. You can adjust the filter merit to affect which filters DirectShow will choose, but this is complicated topic outside the scope of my support.

Post the logs and I'll take a look. Is this with .avi files? If so, this is commonly caused by the divx decoder's tray icon stealing the focus. Install an alternative decoder.

I am having a very similar problem, maybe the same problem. The image is letterboxed when it shouldnt be, there is no way to make the picture fill the screen.

By pressing F7 I can make the image son stretched, but the top is cut off or there ore black borders on the top and sides.

Where did the video come from, what file type is it, and what resolution is that file?

F7 until you get to 'Fill' mode then take a screenshot and post it here so I can take a look.

Thanks for the reply sub. I'll try playing with the graphs when I get home and post any progress, in case it helps others in the future. I don't have the divx codec installed only xvid, and this issue was with mkv (and a 1080p .ts if I remember correctly), i'll post the logs as soon as I get a chance, which might not be till the weekend.

On a slightly related issue, would it be possible to write a plugin that launches the video with a player of the users choice and minimizes pvrx2? I have some tv episodes that are stored in rar files, and I have a player that can play them without unpacking them and I'd like to be able to launch this player from the pvrx2 interface. doable?
