On pure speculation, I will be very surprised if Syabas install the required new Sigma libraries for the next firmware. There seem to be enough regression errors last time to deal with and apparently integrating these libraries has been challenging. werner wrote yesterday that a volume problem and other small things are coming for beta testers which hasn't happened yet, so with this next firmware beta cycle and if the LATM support is in the subsequent one, you are six weeks before there might be LATM support. If I ever hear sound on my NZ sample file I will let you all know first thing.

In general I'd say that Syabas priority for people watching DVB and other captured files is low, they let the Sigma libraries do all of the work, and I see even lower priority on AAC LATM so I wouldn't hold very high expectations.

They'd really struggle sourcing all three of these, so getting Syabas to include native AAC-LATM/HE-AAC support is pretty much the only option at this point.

Slightly older post but was wondering what about converting the audio post recording and muxing it back with the video?

Simple enough to demux the audio out but I haven't found an easy way to convert this, even in batch. Assuming you have PowerDVD8 installed there should be a DS filter there that can handle the audio stream. Then a tool can read DS and convert to another format should work but I haven't worked out what that tools is yet.

As an aside and to keep this gbpvr relevant, I record TV3 using gbpvr - the channel that has AC-3 audio. This works fine. But I haven't been able to demux, recompress the video and mux it back without losing sync because the AC-3 audio as captured by gbpvr (clearly it's not a gbpvr issue since all it does is capture the AV stream) contains random static bursts and when I try to mux that back to my re-encoded AVC stream using say mkvmerge or tsremuxer, the apps detect this static, not that it's bad C-3 data and throw it away!

I wonder if the demuxed AAC stream would contain this static also?

Thanks

I was able to do it post-recording in the the same way I did it with while-recording, but it relied on too many hard-to-get third party filters making it not worth the hassle of trying to build in support. GB-PVR TS Reader + Microsoft Demux + ArcSoft HD Audio + MainConcept AC3 Encoder + HCW TS Multiplexer. This ended up with all Freeview HD channels producing an H.264/AC3 .ts file.

I've never fiddle around with thesed types of remuxer apps etc. As long as I can recording and playback in GB-PVR, then I'm happy. I'll just wait for the PCH to support HE-AAC natively.

It's interesting to see that the recently announced PopcornHour C-200 includes support for HE-AAC audio.

I've found listening to HE-AAC audio on any of the media extenders that support it, a nice experience for sure. I still wish (and hope) for support for the newer libraries on the 100 series. There is no direct support for mvpmcx3 on the C-200 at this time.
