Hello,

The title says it all.

I have the latest version of everything (mplayer, GBPVR and Zprocess2). Using an MVP Box (Wireless).

If I start a movie. It plays good, no problem.

If I stop this movie, the Ztranscode and Mencoder processes keep running (apparently until the entire movie is transcoded to the end). If I start another movie (before the transcoding of the first one is finished) the PC will start an additionnal instance of Ztranscode (but I will still have one instance of Mencoder). There's only one file in the Temp folder and if I play this file (on the MVP or directly on the PC), it will play the first movie I was trying to play.

Bottom-line, when I'm on my MVP box, I can only select a first movie and I have to wait until it's finished transcoding on the PC to select another movie. I believe I have a wrong setting somewhere but I can't figure what.

For info, I tried with Cache = 0 and 1 in the Zprocess setting and I have the same result each time.

Thanks for the help.

I will check the logic again, But I'm sure that the latest version is designed to kill previous instances of mencoder and ZTranscode.

Actually when you're on the MVP and you stop viewing a file, GB-PVR kills ZProcess. ZTranscode should notice that ZProcess was killed and then kill MEncoder and itself...

Obviously it's not doing that. I notice you're from France. It might have something to do with region. Could zip and send zprocess.log, and zeritechregsettings.txt

Wow, thanks for the quick reply.

Are you saying that at a point in time I should have a process called Zprocess (or Zprocess2 in my case) running on the PC ? This is not the case unless I manually start the actual Zprocess2 application.

I did a comprehensive test and I took screen capture of the task manager at each step. The 4 screen capture files plus Zprocess2.log plus ZERITECH_RegSettings.txt are in the attached zip file.

Here's what I did:

Step 0: start my PC (Windows process capture file 0-before.JPG)

Step 1: start the movie "testmovie1.avi" from my MVP (Windows process capture file 1-start movie1.JPG). This starts several processes: cmd.exe, mencoder.exe, Trans2MVP.exe and of course ZTranscode.exe

Step 2: stop the movie "testmovie1.avi" from the MVP (Windows process capture file 2-stop movie1.JPG). Trans2MVP.exe stops but Ztranscode.exe and mencoder.exe keep running.

Step 3: start another movie "testmovie2.avi" from the MVP (Windows process capture file 3-start movie2.JPG). Trans2MVP.exe starts again. An additionnal instance of ZTranscode.exe is launched (which means that two of them are running now) and mencoder.exe keeps running. The mpg file in the temp folder corresponds to the testmovie1.avi file and keeps growing.

Any clue ?

Thanks anyway for your time and your excellent software.

Under no regular circumstance would you ever use Trans2MVP, so I have no idea how you got it started. Did you edit the config.xml to install it. What type of AVI is your test? DiVx/Xvid?

It goes like this.

You're on MVP, watch an AVI (or any most non MPGs) and GB-PVR calls ZProcess2.exe. It will try to hide the program as it runs, but ZProcess has code to unhide itself. ZProcess launches ZTranscode which launches a cmd and a mencoder. All this should be visible if you uncheck 'Hide Consoles', so you wouldn't need to watch things pop up in Task manager.

Maybe one of the confusing things is when the docs refer to 'Trans2MVP'. Trans2MVP.exe is a program that was originally written by sub to transcode certain types of files. I've written a replacement for this, that works with ZTranscode et al, but it should only be called for dvr-ms files...

In ZProcess there is the Trans2MVP 'profile' that I use to contain a group of settings most used for watching transcoded files on the MVP.

I noticed that you have also created a special profile for your specific MVP Mac address. I would suggest for testing purposes to delete that profile. And just work with the default 'trans2mvp' profile...

Send your config.xml and I'll confirm my suspicions...

I guess this is the problem. For some reason, when I start playing a Divx file on my MVP, GBPVR starts Trans2MVP and not Zprocess2. I didn't edit the config.xml, all I did was follow the Zprocess2 install instructions.

Do you have any idea why ? Is it in the config.xml file that we have to tell GBPVR to start Zprocess2 instead of Trans2MVP or is it a setting in the GBPVR setting ? Where ?

I'm at work now and can't access my config.xml but if you tell me where to check in the file, I'll have a look tonight and if I can't fix it, I'll send the file then.

Thanks anyway,

Richard

It a setting that you have to edit in the config.xml but you can also access the setting from within ZProcess |GBPVR Settings | 'Transcode using FFmpeg'

Make sure that it is checked

Try 'Removing All References' to ZProcess, from the GB-PVR settings, and then restart the service.

With ZProcess not in the picture, does GB-PVR try and start ffmpeg to transcode your video...?
