ATI video not so smooth

I have upgraded my system. I now run with an AMD2+ 5600(i think) on a Gigabyte board (GA-MA69GM-S2H) 2 gigRAM. WinXP Pro. It has on board video Radion ATI 1200+.

I used to run with Nvidia. I cant seem to get the ATI up to snuff like with my old 5200 Nvidia?

Any suggestions? Using FFdshow gives me some messed up video, or no video at all.

I am using the latest ATI drivers and tried many mpeg encoders.

I Guess what it boils down is, that I am not familiar with ATI.

Update: FYI

I reinstalled Nvidia PureVideo decoder. It runs excellent with the ATI on board video. With this new set up I can use FFdshow too.
