i do agree about it being severe, but i don't see it coming. hell, m$ has only prolonged XP availability because of massive requests (from industry sides). there's no money to gain for them by providing a fix for a minority. HTPCs are a minority, take a look at the 780G drivers issues gazoo has to get HA. ATI/AMD struggles to make a living & also don't improve their drivers for XP...

I'm a martyr to the XP cause.... :p

I will not change OS until Windows 7 appears or I am forced to. If it is better that is...

that has been my thoughts about w2k too, i've used it till SP4, only then i switched to XP after to many missing drivers etc... it's just a matter of timing the switch to the point where support for XP is dropped in favor of vista by the industry. i'm just amazed they do it so fast (at least AMD/ATI). it took some time to get things under vista to run (my in-law still waits for one particular app, they're still stuck on XP & support only LPT dongles / COM Port for attaching special HW, seems like they've never heard of USB Big Grin)

don't await us to base a new relegion upon that. GBPVRXPvsVista would be a lame name for that Big Grin
