I've never tried any EPG broadcast from the sats, but use XMLTV with the Radiotimes grabber. Works very well. There are a few channels that as far as I can tell they dont carry (movies4men/truemovies - at least I've never found them!).

The "for now" suggests that someone is thinking about how to fix this ... which would be great. The research I've done indicates that the Freesat consortium decided to use a proprietary compression scheme for the EPG data and they only licensed the spec to box manufacturers prepared to put the Freesat logo on the box, and equip the box with an Ethernet port. It's been claimed that this allows them to "control the quality" of the products being used to receive Freesat.
So either Freesat decides to open up the spec, or someone reverse engineers the compression scheme.
In the meantime, I guess it's XMLTV for me.
