Just to let you know - nVidia PureVideo solves the jitterness.

I REALLY appreciate reenabling FF, even if it is flakey. I am about to go to a dedicated DVR versus my old MVP/DVR setup so I was going to have to convince the wife skip was better.

I would rather fiddle with it long enough to work out the flakeyness than convince the wife....

Sub, with this setting does this mean that the following only applies to the MVP/PCH?

<SkipInsteadOfFFRW>false</SkipInsteadOfFFRW>

The <AllowDoubleSpeedPlaybackOnPVRX2> setting isnt read at all when using an MVP/PCH. It only relates to playback on the PC.

<SkipInsteadOfFFRW> should be obeyed on the MVP/PCH.

ok, I've been missing this feature too since moving to GB-PVR, so I'd like to enable it if possible, with the understanding that I may not be able to make it work right depending on my decoder.

1) is this currently supported (if potentially flaky) with 1.3.11?

2) will it work with .ts recordings?

3) how exactly do I enable it? is this right?:
Code:
<AllowDoubleSpeedPlaybackOnPVRX2>true</AllowDoubleSpeedPlaybackOnPVRX2>
<SkipInsteadOfFFRW>false</SkipInsteadOfFFRW>

nevermind, sometimes I ask a question, and then realize I could just find out for myself with 2 minutes of trial and error. What I found:

1) yes, it still works with 1.3.11

2) I guess it works with .ts, but it didn't really do anything (see below)

3) it appears that <SkipInsteadOfFFRW> has no effect at all on PC playback... perhaps it's only for MVP/PCH these days?

The best I got was about 1.2x speed playback, essentially worthless (and certainly not worth giving up the short skip). Is that because my decoder can't decode fast enough? ie, it doesn't drop every other frame, but rather tries to display them all twice as fast? if that's the case, then it makes perfect sense - I can't get hardware acceleration to work right with any decoder, so I'm stuck using Cyberlink PDVD8 with acceleration disabled. my CPU is just fast enough to decode mpeg-2 at 1x speed.

Perhaps if I ever get HW acceleration to work correctly (ATI? AMD? hello?!?! is this thing on?) I can play with 2x playback again.

edit: if I've come to any incorrect conclusions, of if there's something else I might try, please enlighten me
