Hi All,

Thanks to my cable company (Cablevision) "moving" a whole bunch of my channels over to digital in the night without any compensation etc. Congratulations Cablevision; you've just lost another customer!

I'm now left with OTA digital and my Captive Works CW800-PVR which I have connected to the S-Video port of my WinTV-USB2. Only problem is that I cannot work out how to control the SatRX so that I can watch TV!

I know that I can utilise the IR blaster feature of the USB2 and indeed have connected it up with the blaster bit taped to the front of my SatRX. Unfortunately I don't know where to go next.

I've tried using the Hauppauge app to control it but it doesn't have any commands for my SatRX (although my Pansat was in there so will be able to make use of this downstairs).

Am I SOL or just not clever enough to work it out?

As dumb luck would have it I do have a couple of IR blasters that are supported by GBPVR. If I used these how would they work?

Thanks

Mark

OK, so the IR220L that I have isn't working as I expected it to.

Do I have to install it under Windows as an IRDA device or just plug it in to the serial port?

I kinda think that I might have to use WinLIrC to solve this problem. I've made up a transmitter per the LIrC website (NI2O's soldering iron strikes again) and was able to use my IrDEO interface to learn the remote codes (BTW Sub, are these any good to you?).

What I'm missing is how one tells WinLIrC how to send the commands. The only info I can find on the Wiki is how to make HIP/MCE/WinLIrC work together which is not what what I wanted.

Does GBPVR use WinLIrC directly?

OK, I've kinda got it sorted out.

I did discover how to make the Hauppauge remote learn the codes but was unable to actually get it to do it.

I did try the "Test All" feature in the Hauppauge blaster tool and found that set "67" correctly controls my CW-800S (Sub: add this one to your list of known codes).

I do still however have a problem. Using the supplied blaster cable plugged into my WinTV-USB2 I don't get a flashing LED. When I install the blaster cable from my HVR-1600 card it all works as it should.

I did try the USB2 cable on the HVR-1600 and it too works. Problem here is that there is no IR RX attachment so if anyone has any ideas ....

Thanks

Mark

Hurray for my soldering iron!!!!

I'm back in the land of all blasters working as they were intended!!!

I discovered an intermittent cable fault on the USB2 supplied blaster cable. It was at the LED end so was easy to fix. As the cable was about 27 feet too long I chopped it back and put a plug on the end which mates with a socket I added to the back of my CW-800S. Inside the sat RX I installed the LED behind the front panel connected to the back of the socket.

I now have a tidy (read "wife approved") wiring setup. She's now moaning about the flashing light every time she changes channels :{ I guess I'm gonna have to nip down to RadioShack and see if they have any IR LED's left.

I am trying to use an IR blaster with CaptiveWorks 800s; but I am not sure I am putting the IR blaster near the CW800s sensor. Would you know for sure where the sensor is?

I am trying to see what keys I need to put in my MythTV so that it can transmit the right keys to the box...
