Hi All,

I've noticed that there are a few ATSC Radio channels in my local area (NYC/Philly) but I am unable to listen to them.

My assumption is that they are simply audio channels sent in ATSC format.

Any ideas as to how I can hear these stations?

Thanks

Mark

Does GB-PVR list these channels after a channels scan? It ignores the UK DVB radio stations which is why I wrote the DVB-T Radio plugin. If it does list them, I'm guessing playback is failing because GB-PVR is trying to build a TV playback graph (sub - any comments?).

How are you with GraphEdit? If you've used it before or are prepared to give it a go, we could try to build an audio-only ATSC graph. I don't know how ATSC tuning works though so you'd need to help out there.

If we can get it working I could try adding ATSC support to the dvbt radio plugin. I won't be able to promise a time scale though as the code is heavily oriented towards UK DVB-T and would need a fair number of changes.

Cheers,
Brian

This probably isn't too much different from what I did with QAM audio. I used TSReader to find the values needed to identify the "station" (whurlston wrote an email explaining these values), using 0 as the video PID, and then just manually added the stations I wanted to GBPVR.

OK, I'm in. What do I have to do? Be gentle with me. I'm a Linux person.

If you want to use my method you need to d/l TSReader lite from http://www.coolstf.com/tsreader/ to figure out your station info.

I've learned a little more about "ATSC Radio" today.

I finished the deployment of our house antenna to all the TV rooms today and in doing so supplied our bedroom GBPVR setup with 2 antenna feeds (one for the TV and one for the PVR). When I asked GBPVR Config to search for channels it pulled up WFME-DT (West Organge, NJ) on 29.1 and then 10 audio only channels on 29.2 through to 29.11.

Now when I do the same thing with PVR #2 (see sig for specs) It doesn't find WFME-DT but does find something it calls "ATSC Radio".

I spent my Digital Rebate vouchers today on 2 Magnavox STB's from Wal-Mart and deployed them to my children's rooms. These box's when tuned to 29.1 show the regular WFME TV show but then also offer 10 alternative audio channels along with a static picture (a contact card with the station phone #).

So far GBPVR has not yet been able to give me access to these channels. I think I'm gonna try assigning each of the audio channels to an unused channel number and see if I can access them via the TV Guide.

If I can "see" these channels then thats great! Assuming that I can then perhaps this would then lead to some additions to the plugins pool?

That's why i suggested TSReader, it should provide enough information for you to manually add these stations to GBPVR without a plugin.
