Video Freezing?

Hi there, new to this board.

I've been poking around and seen some other users having trouble with video freezing or locking up. I just installed the lastest version of GB-PVR last night and was experiencing this problem. Some channels seemed fine while others would lock up video for over a few minutes, while the audio continued.

I also noticed the processor spiking when changing channels. Is this normal?

I have a PVR 150 and an Xcard.

Thanks for any comments and tips...

Yes, this has already been raised by a couple of other users, and I'll be fixing it in the next release.

Thanks for the quick reply. Will the items to be fixed include the processor spiking? Or are they the same problem underneath?

I would expect a spike in processor usage, but it should be very short.

Yes, that's what I'm seeing. Ok, I'll hang tight and wait for a newer release. Thanks for your help.

Is there any reason why some channels would come in crystal clear while others would be hazy and wavy? I have my cable wire going right into the PVR150, no box.

This sounds like a tuning problem to me.

Is it crystal clear for those channels in WinTV?

What country are you in?

I'm in the US. Comcast is my provider. I've been reading a lot about WinTV2000 today so I will try this when I get home today and compare the results.

I got WinTV 2000 running. Some of the channels look fuzzy there too, so I guess it must be the line and signal. Luckily, it's mostly channels that suck...

By the way, I haven't installed my media drive yet so I was aiming the GBPVR files at a local directory on C:\. I didn't set any recordings, but when I came home today, my drive was filled. Upon investigation, I found a series of recorded files, about 1.16 GB each, some larger some smaller. Some of them were infomercials from the middle of the night, so I was really puzzled. Is there something that I set up incorrectly or is there some trigger going off to record despite me not saying to do so?

Thanks

Scratch that previous post. I played with it more and now see that GBPVR buffers each channel. I must have been testing it long enough to fill the drive. Is there a way to remove these files automatically for shows you didn't want to record, but simply watch and possibly timeshift? Maybe create a partition just for live tv, and make it large enough for 3 hours of video, then have it clear the drive every 3 hours? How is this intended to operate?

Thanks again...

The files are deleted a few minutes after you watch them, unless you left the TV paused, which will eventually cause it to fill the hard drive.
