Title says it all really. Something for snipping start end padding from UK HD recordings. I like VideoRedo, so something similar would be nice.

cheers,

I use Mpg2Cut2. It's free, and since it doesn't re-encode, very fast.

Thanks for that, but after trying it out it doesn't look like it supports h.264 HDTV as used here in the UK.

Have you tried DGAVCDec on your recordings? If you can open your files w/this, then make a .dga file, then you make a simple Avisynth .avs file like this

LoadPlugin("c:\program files\dgavcdec\dgavcdecode.dll")
AVCSource("e:\recording.dga")

...and open it with VirtualDub and edit. Worth a try (Avisynth, DGAVCDec, and Vdub/VdubMod are all free).

I've read about this one a few times.

@laserfan I'll try it a little later, I'd prefer a single step solution rather than seemingly have to do heavy video conversions. All I really want to do is chop the beginning and end of recordings (and maybe adverts from the middle)

@martin Thanks, I've grabbed that and it seems promising, although it is crashing when writing the output file (that runs nice and fast) and the audio seems to disappear. It's fairly slow having to go through the forum and translate the pages as well. When I have a little time during the week, I'll try to sort it out (How on earth do you find the time to find these things as well as your other software and a life as well Wink)

A laptop and lots of bookmarks while I (kind of) watch TV helps with the time. You have to master the "Uh-huh, "Yes Dear", and especially "Of course I was listening" to do this.
