I'm enjoying 1.2.13, and having a/v sync problem. The problem is that audio is about 2~3 seconds behind the video. When tuned/played first, they are in sync, but quickly (within a few seconds) the audio falls behind. I'm using ffdshow for video/audio decoder.

When playing recorded materials using other players, there seems to be no sync issues. So I think, it's not because of my not-so-good system (2.0GHz AMD Dual Core, 690G internal video). What I'm suspecting is that I'm NOT using DirectSound as the Audio Render, because when used, the audio stops playing within a few seconds.

Does anyone have similar a/v sync problem, or know how to fix that? I couldn't fix the problem by setting video delay in ffdshow. I think using DirectSound may fix the delay issue, but it's causing more serious problem of losing audio completely.

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Cyberlink mux recordings staying in sync is a common problem with U.S. OTA, but you said other players play the videos fine. One thing I've seen, particularly on HD files, is if the hard drive is in decent use doing something else, videos can go out of sync, but only with certain players.

If you're antsy to mess around with it while sub is log-looking, you could try different decoders such as Gabest MPA, AC3filter, or what I'm currently using is Dscaler5 for audio since I liked the easy setup options and figured I'd mess with it for awhile.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

Thank you for the attention. Here is the zipped log files.
I'll certainly look into other decoders. One particular thing is that no matter I'm live-watching HD or SD (cpu consumption is quite low), or even playing recorded materials, the symptom is very consistent.

First thing I'd try is setting your audio renderer back to 'system default'. If that doesnt help, then try different combinations of audio/video decoders.

I have tried various video/audio codec combinations (DScaler, Gabest, AC3Filter, ffdshow, ...) but the sync problem does not go away. Interestingly, no matter how high or low the cpu consumption is, or whether I watch HD or SD channels, the audio always falls behind the video about 2 seconds.

My conclusion is using DirectSound will help solve the problem, but with DirectSound audio completely goes away after a few seconds. I attached a log file using the combination of ffdshow video codec, ffdshow audio codec, DirectSound audio renderer, and Overlay video renderer. Can someone check the log if there is something wrong I'm doing?

Oh, by the way, when watching live TV using Overlay, no mouse click works. Channel up/down, pause, exit button, right click, ... any mouse click is lost. (Which may show up in the log file. I don't know...)

Sorry I dont know. It will be related to the combination audio/video decoders and/or audio renderer though, so keep experimenting and I'm sure you'll find a combination that works well for you. I'd try sticking with 'system default' for the audio renderer initially since other options often cause sync problems.

This is a known problem, but Overlay is a pretty low priority for me and I havnt got around to fixing it yet. Its on my todo list though.

Yes, audio driver is the newest one from RealTek. Maybe I have to conclude the system is not capable of handing the massive amount of video/audio data, which is still not convincing to me... Thinking of the amount of data, one weird thing I found was that the screen resolution displayed when Ctrl-O is pressed in Live TV mode differs from which video renderer I'm using. Well, ffdshow video decoder is reporting even another different video resolution. Confusing...

does the ffdshow icon come up in task bar when playing back a recording
insure you have selected the mpeg codec(normally disabled) in ffdshow decoder settings

is it only live tv that you have sync problems or all recordings

if its only live tv have you tried the different settings under misc tab live preview mode try the encoder passthrough etc
