hi - coreavc installed and used, then installed powerdvd8.

even though coreavc was selected as preferred mkv decoder, PVRX2 used the powerdvd decoder anyway (i can tell due to glitches on screen when using it).

i un-regsvr'd the powerdvd filter and all back to normal - just wanted to point out that the config setting didn't seem to take effect.

cheers

The H.264 decoder only applies to the types of files GB-PVR creates, ie .ts files. The app has no logic to parse .mkv files, so doesnt know what type of streams these files contains, so isnt able to suggest beforehand what type of decoders should be used. (it has this logic for .ts files)

Yeah, you pretty much have to elevate the merit of whatever filter you want used in pvrx2 to also be the default one on your system. So when you took out cyberlink filter (which probably had a higher merit than core), it selected the one with the next higher merit - the coreavc one. By the way, if you're not concerned about hardware acceleration, core is an excellent software h.264 decoder.
