Ok. So I will admit that i am not the most sophisticated user. I upgraded from a hauppage 350 (running fine for a couple of years) to the 1600 because I wanted to take advantage of my new TV.

I have seen some mention of different codecs and am looking for some insight. the 1600 plays back files recorded from 350 fine. The 1600 is recording in a dvr-ms file format. I can play them with VLC player but they play back Wonky. Sound is out of whack and picture looks bad with movement. They will not play back on with GB-pvr at all.

Any help or insight is greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance

Try changing to the BDA Multiplexer to "TS Mux" instead of "DVR-MS" in Config (Misc 2 tab).

Ok. So i am now a step closer.

Thanks whurlston for the advice. Now the recording is playable with VLC but still no luck with gbpvr. I tried boh MPEG 1/2 decoder and ffdshow in the playback tab. I now have both video and audio but it is extremely choppy and unwatchable.

Still one step closer is good. Any other ideas are welcome...

I'm going to bed.

Try the MPV Decoders: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm and http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPA_Decoder.htm

ffdshow should be suitable for AC-3 or you can try AC3Filter

Thank you hoborg for the help. SAF seems to work pretty good.

I think that I need to do some tweeking somewhere. The video seems to have almost a stutter like frames drop out and the sound is out of sync by 3/4 through a 1/2 hour show.

Anybody have any suggestions?

If you need more info let me know what you need and how to find it.

Can you post SAF logs?
Look on system root for them.

You should get some new GPU, like ATI HD 4550 (passive), your ATI Radeon X1200 is little too outdated Sad

Yup, the x1200 is underpowered for HD video, sorry.
