recording service crashes....

after a few hours of running (without recording something), recording service crashes with nothing else than this in the recording service log:

my windows is in german, so the error msgs are in german as well, but it's the standard 'object reference not set to an instance of an object' msg.

but i haven't seen this happening at "PopulateMessageProperties", yet...

the other logs (native, pvrx2 logs) don't show anything when this happens

Can you zip and attach the complete GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log so I can see what is happening around this?

Has it happened more than once?

it happened three times so far (since yesterday). everytime i restart it after about two hours or so.

unfortunately i just have the logs of the the last time it happened...

I cant remember seeing any problems in the past that caused this same error message, but going by that message it sounds like a problem with the .NET RPC mechanism (used for communication between PVXR2.exe and GBPVRRecordingService.exe). I wonder if it relates to either the firewall or antivirus software you're running? These types of software typically monitor the ingoing/outgoing packets, and have been known to cause problems in this same layer of the software in the past.

or, somehow you've ended up with a DLL that is meant for a different version, and some how it causes problems when it tries to route an incoming RPC request to the appropriate function in the APP.

i deactivated the windows firewall service and i do not run any anti-virus software on my pvr computer.

errm.. which dll are you refering too? i'm currently checking the event log where the crash has been logged too (source is set to 'ASP.NET 2.0.50727.0')

I'm not sure. I mean like you've got 1.2.13 but patch from 1.2.9 or something similiar, ie a DLL from a wrong version. GBPVRPublic.dll, GBPVRBackendCommon.dll etc...

i still have no idea what caused this issue, but a reboot seem to have resolved it... at least the service is running since more than 12 hours now and was able to record several things.
