Hi All,

last night I tried without success to blast some signals using my IR blaster. It's the one built into my AVC 3610 USB dual tuner. The remote seems to work with MCE set as the remote for GBPVR so I gather that XP is recognizing it.

I'm using HIP and it learns the code - so here I think it's recognizing the receiver but not sure - but when I test it I can't blast to the STB.

There are a few problems that it could be but I'd like to solve the simple ones first. I don't know where the IR receiver is for the STB - so if anyone has one can you please let me know where it is about? I tried to isolate it using the remote but it's just too darned powerful so that didn't work.

The second step would be to ask if anyone has the CCF for the Explorer 3000 that they could post.

Finally, it's possible that HIP doesn't recognize the driver but that's my last ditch effort as it takes more time and hacking than I would like.

Thanks.

Use a small flashlight illuminating the black/red plastic part of the stb by holding it right against the plastic. Try different angles, etc. It takes some experimentation to find out how to see through it, but generally one of the the only areas that you can see through is where the IR receiver is located. And you should be able to see the receiver when you find the spot. They want to keep it dark so you can't see through it, so they usually paint the inside black everywhere except where the receiver is (or where they have some LEDs or something they want to show through from the inside).

Thanks for the suggestions...that remote is really powerful, it went through a paper gift bag!!! Anyway, I finally used my hand to cover portions at a time and it was where I expected it be....right in the centre where it shows the time/channel.

I also got HIP to learn and blast a signal - turns out it was because HIP could only use IR port 2 instead of IR port 1.

So for those in a similar situation:
HIP
RW 2
PVR MCE 150
Adaptec AVC 3610

I've been able to use the Adaptec remote and blaster through HIP on XP. I haven't done a complete integration, so something in between can break, but I'm happy for now. We use the digital box for normal viewing so it won't be integrated into the setup yet, but when we go digital I'll know that my setup can handle it.
