I was wondering if there is a way to set up a backup recording drive. I am about to go out of town for 10 days and will be recording the Olympics in HD while I am gone. I will have a drive with about 350gb which is my recording drive, but I have about 100gb on another drive on the system I would like to have kick in if it was needed. Any way to accomplish this? I know I really need a larger drive, but at this point it is really not an option.

Thanks,
John

There is nothing built in that will do this.

Sub,

Just a suggestion for a future release, and ofcourse if you were willing, but could there be a way to set a second drive/folder

Idea:
Have a setting that will alow you to say if there is = or less than x gig's of space left on Drive, use X drive/folder on new HDD instead, as i have no idea how difficult something like that would be, i guess its just a request buyt wont be hurt if you dont like the idea. I do realize that there are some variables to acount for like if a recording started before the preset limiter, but then will grow passed the preset limit, woudnt want the recording to stop mid way and then start on the other drive.

I do intend to implement some logic like this in the future.

I suppose I should try this, but I'm not near the server....

If you manually move files from the default recording drive and also export, edit, import the recordings.xml file to point to where they have moved to - will they be playable from the gbpvr recordings menu?

If so, then the OP could move as much as possible from his main drive to make space for his recordings whilst away.

There again, HD recordings would fill it damn quick.

Yes. Filled up a 750GB HDD in less than 3 months so had to move them to a backup drive. Works fine.

you might want to look at this
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...t=archiver

It allows you to move video from one location to another, and keep it in recordings

yep, it is made for moving shows to another drive while keeping info in recordings screen..Big Grin
looks like nothings changed in recordings screen, plays like normal..
i use it all the time when running out of space, or just want to archive a show..

i also made a version that moves a whole series at once,[whole dir] as moving a lot of files takes a while when you have to do one at a time..i'll post that one when i get it cleaned up a bit..
