My GBPVR setup has been running for about 2 years now with little or no interaction from me, so well I try to never touch the GBPVR server at all.

I've come to the point that I'm finding things are running more and more sluggish. I think I've found the culprit. Seems my C drive is full and struggling for working space. I have nothing installed on the C drive except the OS, winXP-pro, and associated drivers.

I found in my C:\Documents and Settings\GBpvr\Local Settings\Temp directory 15 gigs of temp files. They range in age from 3 years ago to yesterday so I assume that it's still being used and I can't delete them, even though my GBPVR is installed on the D drive.

Can I delete at least everything but this years files in order to gain working space on my C drive?

What files are in that directory? I'm not aware of any files that GB-PVR would create there.

I'll attach a screenshot as well as a zipped sample of one of the files for you to look at. There are thousands of these in that directory, each of them over a meg in size. I can't say I ever noticed them before now, of course like i said I don't fool with that machine much, it just runs.

seems the screenshot didn't go. I'll try again. for some reason a jpg or a bmp file won't upload. I've zipped it up as well in case you need to see it.

They're definitely not GB-PVR files. I take it "GBpvr" is your user account name you log in with?

I'm sure these files are being generated by some other software you're running under that user account. Given the "tmp" part of the name, it sounds like you'd be able to delete them safely, but I'll leave that final decision up to you Big Grin

The "a" and "v" part of these temp files makes me think its some remuxing software or other video manipulation utility you use?

If they are still being created then if I was you I'd run FILEMON with a tmp_*.* filter and see what application is creating them.

Thanks for the replies,

yes, Sub they are in the GBPVR account on that system. It could very well be some sort of remux or video editing going on. I use several to cut out commercials and perhaps that's where they are putting their working files for some reason.

that's a good idea with the filemon utility, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!
