Problems with AAC audio; dropouts on Freeview (NZ)

I'm having a problem with audio dropouts on Freeview NZ.

They appear to be confined to the use of AAC audio tracks; when viewing TV1/TV3 with AC3, i see no problems.

Essentially, when i switch to the channel, on any channel, i get video display & can hear the soundtrack fine. When the EPG Banner stops displaying, i get a video 'stutter' and then on AAC channels, the audio starts dropping out consistently. On AC3 channels the video stutters, but the audio is fine.

Doesn't seem to be a difference on Standard def channels versus HD channels.

I'm using a:

Avermedia A16D
Asus P5E-V
2 gig RAM
Nvidia 8500GT - Hooked up to 1080p telly via hdmi.
Dual Core E8200
Vista 32 bit.

I am using the momogram aac codec; Cyberlink H264 codec. (Powerdvd8)

Unsure what i should be doing more at this point to diagnose; would appreciate any & all help

I'm wondering if this is down to my (poor) choice of Capture card. Any other thoughts?

It's probably the Monogram decoder, especially if you have a marginal signal.

I don't think it handles broken timelines or "glitches" very well.
When I use the monogram decoder, I also lose audio here & there.

The monogram decoder is still a beta.

What is the sound like when playing a recording through PowerDVD 8?

How do you not use the monogram decoder? I don;t see powerdvd listed as an audio codec option, or was there something I was supposed to add to the config.xml?

I don't think it's the signal at all; audio works absolutely fine until the banner drops; that's when i get slowness.

Unfortunately the newer cyberlink audio decoder required for HE-AAC isnt directly usable by external apps like GB-PVR, so cant appear in the audio decoder list.
