Hi, I had GBPVR playing the freeview HD 'preview' channel yesterday; that channel plays about 10 minutes (guestimate) of programs as a preview. When it got to the end of the preview I briefly saw a test pattern (nothing to do with GBPVR I assume), but then as the screen cleared (I guess the next preview was about to start), GBPVR suddenly displayed the 'no signal detected' screen and froze. Nothing I could do brought it back to life. I eventually killed PVRX2 with the task manager and when I started it up again it was all going smoothly (so the signal was definitely still there).

I've had a few other experiences where if the signal is weak, GBPVR seems to freeze up or stop responding. (I had this with a weak signal, but I'm now connected to a good roof-top aerial.)
I'm wondering if - when the program ended - maybe there was a brief pause in the data stream? Could this have confused and killed GBPVR?

Another issue (probably not related though) - sometimes I've been watching a channel for 10-15 minutes (eg TV1 (non-ac3) olympics) and I suddenly start getting audio/video stuttering, the audio eventually disappearing altogether. Changing channels to something else and back again normally fixes it.
I've seen there are several threads related to stuttering and managing processor affinity. It seems the recommendation is to share GBPVR over multiple cores, is this correct? In my case, it already is running over multiple cores (4) - should I limit this to 1 or 2?

[This is a new HTPC (Core 2 Quad, clean install of XP, SP3, all patches) with an HVR2200 capture card and nvidia 8500GT graphics card.]

Any suggestions appreciated!

I've had similar problems with broken data streams. See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=35869. For me when that happens the recording isn't watchable anymore in GBPVR.

Have you tried tuning HVR2200 to analogue channels to confirm that its getting a good signal?

BTW can you check if you're getting teletext with your DVB-T? In particular does subtitles work on page 801? I get wierd problems with mine.

Errr... how do you view teletext? and view subtitles (pg 801)? I cannot see these options in pvrx2.... (in the config tool I _do_ have 'enable teletext' ticked on the 'misc' tab....)

NB. I have both digital and analog sources set up, but I currently have no analog stations set (because I'm watching them all via digital), however I will add tritv and prime shortly.
So on that topic - the tuner didn't find tritv and prime automatically - strange since the signal is strong... how do I manually tune into those?

use the tuning assisstant to find the channel numbers, you may have to set it to cable instead of antenna to do a full search and then use those channel numbers in the config to map the channels

Thanks for the tip... tuner found more 'channels'... but they all contain static Sad

I've seen somewhere a tip on manually adding extra frequencies which I guess I need to do...

While experimenting with bogus channels (eg accidentally importing EPG data for non-existent channels) I still see these pvrx2 lockups. It seems if there is insufficient (or no) data to decode, pvrx2 cannot handle it. It's as if the main processing routine goes off to la la land, never to return. Sad

I'm still getting this; haven't quite pinned it down but it seems to happen much more readily when watching the AC3 versions of TV1 and TV3.
Sometimes I'll watch the channel for several minutes and then the stuttering will start for no apparent reason. But I've found something that is more likely to trigger it (but not always) is if you open another application where the window is partly obscuring the pvrx2 window, sometimes the stuttering will start. Checking the task manager shows no significant change in cpu activity; the pc isn't over-burdened!
