I'm sure this has been covered, but it's really hard to search on "*".

I had GBPVR set up to record "Heroes *" under the impression that it would record new episodes of "Heroes."

This worked for the first airing (last week.) But it missed the one that aired on Monday.

So I went to check, and found that although the one that aired last week was "Heroes *" in the EPG, the one for this week was simply "Heroes", even though it is a new episode.

What's the deal? Is this a Schedules Direct issue, or a GBPVR issue?

GB-PVR doesnt do anything with the "*". I think you're using some other utility to add this character to your new show titles. You'd probably have to ask the author of that utility to look into why it wasnt added.

Yeah, Neither Scheuldes direct, nor GB-PVR will add the New show indicator. What utility are you using that adds that for you?

*Ahem*.

You mean this is my fault? Smile

I have no idea! I'll have to go looking. If it doesn't do this out of the box, that's good to know. Thanks.

I use I-xmltv to get the new show indicator *. Sometimes the schedules direct data is incomplete and has generic info for a show, which does not include the original air date. The new show indicator is determined by original air date, so it doesn't get added. I don't think it's the fault of SD, they are not getting that info from the network, or whoever provides the listing data.
What, me worry?

The other alternate for New Shows is UltraXMLTV Enhancer....

I know that Heroes was new, and certainly didn't use default descriptions, but as Roy said, sometimes, there's no way for anything to distinguish between new and repeat

Hmm. I used to use I-xmltv. That was before I got the PVR-150, upgraded from 0.99.12 and stopped using the Software Recorder. (And wow, what a difference!)

So now I'm using the built-in method of retrieving Schedules Direct data. I-xmltv exists on my machine, but I'm not using it anymore. I do remember there was a PostUpdateEPG.bat file (that filename is probably wrong, but it was something like that) but I have deleted that file as well.

Is it possible I-xmltv is still kicking in somewhere?

If you want to process the info, you can't use the built in download of schedules direct... You need a downloader and then a processor. I-xmltv does both, though the author isn't on the boards anymore to help (I guess it's still working)

Or you can use the XMLTV download method and UltraXMLTV Enhancer to process the file to give you new show indicators and more...
