version 1.2.13
two hvr-1600's, using the digital QAM tuners on both

In the past both tuners worked fine, but now the second one doesn't work. So, if I'm only recording one show, I'm fine, but if I record two, it tries, but the second recording is empty. Also, live TV doesn't work, since it defaults to the 2nd tuner.

I had this happen once before, and rebooting seemed to fix it, but that didn't work this time.

I don't think it's a hardware problem, but I can't be sure. If I go to config, then try to map channels on the second tuner, it shows programming, so it seems to be working and getting a signal. If there's a better way to diagnose the hardware, let me know.

I attached logs, this is restarting the gbpvr service, then starting pvrx2, going to guide, and trying to watch a show live. Nothing happens (just a blank screen), so I exit live TV, then exit pvrx2.

Any guidance? I can try creating a log where I record two shows simultaneously, if that helps.

Thanks!

Try doing two recordings, then zip and attach the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log and GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

Okay, tried that, and of course it recorded just fine this time. Just my luck. :o

So never mind, I guess. I'll do my best to catch it in the act and send you the log files if it happens again.

Live TV still doesn't work, but I never use it, so that doesn't really bother me too much.

Thanks for your help, sorry to waste your time.

Okay, it did it a few times in the past couple of days. Here are the logs.

The failed recordings:

2008-10-29 19:57 Private Practice
2008-10-30 18:59 My Name Is Earl

In the gbpvrrecordingservice.exe log, it says something to the effect of "recording is unusually small, trying again" The failed recordings show up in my c:\temp\show directory, but they're only 4KB, and there are two copies for each show, like it tried twice.

The only error I can find in the native log file is "failed to start BDA graph"

Also, ignore the PBS shows that failed (Curious George, Clifford, Super Why). Those channels seem to have been remapped, so they always fail.

Thanks a million for any help you can give me.

Any luck with this sub?

It look very similar to the problens I have with my HVR-1300 and Nova PCI setup. I can only record one show at the time. It is not a 1.3.7 problem I had it in 1.2.9 with an older set of Haupauge drivers. Updating to the lates driver did not help.

I missed the log above, but there is no definitive clues why it didnt work. It failed to start the device at recording time.

Quote:2008-10-29 19:57:01.102 ERROR Failed to start BDA Graph
2008-10-29 19:57:01.102 VERBOSE ERROR_NO_SYSTEM_RESOURCES

You can get this error if the device is in use elsewhere in the system.

Post your logs and I'll take a look.
