channel list editting

I tried to read up on this, but nothing seems to address editting what channels show up.
There is the edit per tuner in the config, but after unchecking some of the boxes, they always come back.
I tried to edit the guide xml file, but I still see the channels in the list.

What am I doing wrong? I want to get rid of a few channels I never watch.

What works for me is to uncheck the unwanted channels in the tuner config screen, and then click the remove button to erase it from the list. Then I empty the EPG before updating the EPG - and it works, for me at least.

Though If I remember right, I tried remove and it put all the check boxes back.

must have been the setup guide I remember doing that.
