GBPVR seems to use a TON of memory.
Right now (during channel update)
config.exe 113 meg
GBPVR 30 meg
recording service 27 meg.

and sitting idle, it is over 100 meg.

Plus it seems to hang for about a minute after altering/viewing recording schedules. I mainly use my MVP with it, but the same thing happens when viewing locally.

That config.exe number seems out of wack, but the two are what I'd expect.

Thanks,
Now with the EPG update completed, they are both just under 30 meg. I think when using GBPVR, or the MVP client, the one jumps up to about 90 meg.

FWIW, I have a P4 2Ghz, 512 Meg, 40 GIG os&apps drive, 160 GIG video and pictures drive. Plus I have a networked server with dual 40 gigs mirrored for picture backups. WHen the app seems to hang, it doen't seem to be using the CPU, it just sits there. Usually the CPU usage is minimal.

RIght now, page file is 755meg, (autoset by XP) on my C: drive. I just got the 160 data drive, and might move it there. All of the Directoried that GBPVR is set to are E: (the 160, basically dedicated to GBPVR data. I have about200-210 meg free at idle (With IE running, and remote access, so maybe 225....

These are my most memory-consuming programs in my task manager right now (GBPVR is doing nothing and has only just been started)....
97MB - GBPVR.EXE
41MB - GBPVRRecordingS
30MB - sqlservr.exe
25MB - lsass.exe
17MB - gbpvrtray.exe
16MB - gbpvrtray.exe (I'm logged in via RDP so have 2 sessions right now)

This is running on a domain controller with SQL Server, Internet Information Server, Active Directory etc installed. I've got 512MB total RAM and I'm trying to bring my total memory usage down which is currently just over 400MB most of the time. Processor is under hardly any load (anyone know any modern RAM compressors?)
I'm considering upgrading the RAM but it's a pain to do because of the small box everything's in (requires practically rebuilding the whole PC to get at the DIMM slots) so in the meantime anyone know ways that I can get GBPVR to use less memory?

It seems to me that the only memory value that is questionable is the GPVRtray app. This is the same way on my machine....

Right now it's using almost 20MB (physical + page). All its doing is just sitting there monitoring the state of the recording service right? Kinda high. The other stuff is not a problem, video capture is an expensive process and I expect high memory usage, i haven't noticed a whole lot of leaks in it either.

Can anything be done to lower the usage of the tray app?

I'd rather lower the 97MB usage of the main EXE myself. This is when it's just sat on the menu doing nothing. I've thought of not having it loaded when it's not being used but then parents will probably be confused when they switch the TV on and get a windows desktop. Suppose I could get girder to make a certain button launch GB-PVR.

I checked my memory and the main EXE has dropped to 48MB but GBPVRRecordingS is now using 65MB. My total memory usage is now 477MB. Something was recording this morning, a few hours ago, but nothing is recording right now.

I'm having some huge memory issues also. I just installed the .908 release and I'm getting messages about virtual memory being low. Task manager shows GBPVR at 97mb or less, nothing else real big, however I just got a peak memory usage of 1.8gb. I've got 512mb ram, so it did a ton of paging. Something's not right. Any clue what to start changing?

Note that there were no recordings going on. The spike happened when I ran the GBPVR config and again when I ran the MVP server.

Well the GBPVR.EXE was fluctuating as high as 333mb in Task Manager, and virtual memory was maxing out at 1.8gb. I shut down GBPVR and then deleted most of the additional plugins I had. Then I added back the latest xrecord and it seems to be behaving.
