Sub,

Verizon is using 4 digit channel numbers. So when I tell the channel.exe (from the firestb package) to change the channel, I get a long pause before the channel change. This causes quite a few problems with my HD-PVR if it is changing from HD to SD or vice-versa (as you know).

Any chance this is already in the next release, or a way I can do a temporary fix?

Perhaps I can tell channel.exe to force an enter after the channel number since that would be instant?

Ideas?

Thanks,
Roy

I've never used channel.exe, but if its got a command line parameter to send a enter after the channel number, then there is no reason why you cant add that parameter to the '.exe channel changer' you've specified when setting up your capture source.

These 2 lines in a .bat file works from the command line (the first command sends the channel, the seconds sends the binary code for select):

channel.exe 2 %1
channel.exe -d 2 0

However GB-PVR doesn't seem to want to run anything other than an .exe file...

Am I missing something here?

Thanks,
Roy

You can set the exe to c:\windows\cmd.exe, and have "/c c:\path\to\my.bat" for the arguments.

Below is the .bat file that works. Place it in the folder with the channel.exe and if it is not the default fix the path in the .bat file.

You need to have /c "c:\Path to file\channelchange.bat" {channel} in the options line for c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe.

Someone should really add a wiki page for a complete walk-through on getting the HD-PVR up and running using firewire channel change (I am on Vista 32 and it works great).

I had to set the Live TV wait timer (on the Playback tab) to 2.5 seconds or else the HD-PVR would mess up if it previously recorded a HD show and flipped to SD or vice-versa. Does that also apply to recordings? Is there some other way to deal with this? My PopcornHour did not have a problem with it, it is only when viewing on GB-PVR system.

Thanks,
Roy
