hi there,

im running a freshly installed v1.3.7 and the MCE standby tool from here http://slicksolutions.eu/mst.shtml on my also fresh installed XP SP3. I verified my power managment settings and everything else i could think off still...

- computer wakes up correctly
- gbpvr records scheduled program
- system goes to standby almost immediately after recording

what am i missing there ? i want to run a postrecording batch for comskip and cleaning up and so i need to put the system to sleep only after the batch has finished succesfully. Any tips on why the system goes to sleep right after recording ?

What timeout do you have on the power managment to standby settings?

...disabled the standby tool and now running a couple of tests: could it be that if the system comes out of standby to record it somehow wants to go back to standby on is own (as soon as possible)? if so, is there a way to prevent that behavior ?

I've never seen this one.
AFAIK and from what sub has said in the past, gbpvr does absolutely nothing about going into standby/hibernate. All it does is give Windows a list of wakeup times and keeps Windows awake when playing files and navigating menus.

Only Windows (or external tools) will put the machine to sleep.

well im puzzled. i just ran a recording having it wakeup and record for 10 minutes. and well.... system went to sleep right after recording finished. I made sure no other programs were running, still this was what happened. i'll investigate a little more i guess but im kinda out of options already.

I don't know if you have been experimenting or not Wink But if I saw this happening on a system then I would look at all the .bat files within the gbpvr program directory to see if anything has been setup to do this (maybe temporarily remove them?). (postprocessing.bat could be one I'dpick for "instant shutdown")

Then I go through services.msc to see if any strange resident processes are running and disable them.

Sadly Windows offers nothing at all ti diagnose sleep/wake problems.
(hmmm, doesn't the MCE standby tools offer to install some resident processes??) Maybe that would be the first thing I'd get rid of.
