Forgive me for posting this in the main support forum; it's not directly GB-PVR related, but I don't see any other suppot forum it would be better in and I don't want it to get lost and ignored in the General Discussion forum (if a moderator sees fit to move it there then so be it....)

I have need to launch a custom task that will change the screen resolution, launch Internet Explorer (or another browser if that would somehow help), and then change resolution back before returning control to PVRX2.

Anyone know of a GB-PVR friendly way of doing this?

I believe PowerStrip has that capability.

I think UltraMon (not free, but well featured and easy to use) will do what you want; or if you have an ATI card, he Catalayst Control Centre can be used to create profiles, which can be saved as shortcuts so you can call them from a batch file.

I use ATI profile shortcuts to switch between e.g. a "OneScreen" profile (800x600 CRT-TV only); "TwoScreen", (800x600 CRT primary, 1280x768 projector secondary) and "BigScreen" (1024 x 768 CRT for when I want to run HandBrake which requires this resolution). Works perfectly.

Not sure whether NVIDIA has a similar capability - I know it has profiles but whether you can call them as shortcuts, not sure.

Good luck

wow, thanks for the tips guys. I just tried that reso-matic on an XP box I'm using atm, and it works great: it launches IE at the alternate res I specified, and switches back the moment I close IE. But I didn't even realize that Catalyst Control Center might do it for me... I'll have to try it tonight on the GB-PVR box.
