I have my TV recordings folder added to my Video library. But, sometimes the name doesn't give all the info I would like to remember. I remember seeing a utility that does this.

Sorry, that threw me.

There must be a way of using the metadata present in the new version, because I can see the db recording info against a file when I view recordings in the vid library.
I wonder if the metadata comes straight from the db, or if it's actually embedded in the file.

I guess for now you could use some of the batch files which are laying around the wiki / forums to re-point the db to the actual file
(something like check after recording for the existence of a 0 byte file + >0 byte file, and change the db to match)

Or a batch file could simply just swap the filenames of the 0b & actual files

I've been seeing this problem lately too. My files, however, are not zero bytes - they play in WMP. In PVRX2 when I select the video file the screen goes black and the system seems unresponsive. Most of the time bringing up task manager and ending the process works but the occurance below required a power cycle. I don't remember this happening at all in the previous gbpvr versions I've used.

Code:

If there is anything else I can grab and post let me know. I'm only setup for analog with one capture device (AVerMedia M780 PCIe). This is reproducible.

Post your pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

Was away from the pvr for a bit.

I included ...native-1 and 3 also as they were created around the time I was trying to play the file.

Thanks sub!

I'm pretty sure its just the decoders being used causing your problem. What audio and video decoders have you tried?

I've always had them set on System Default and everything had been great (I just put them back to default and I can play the recording just fine). Just a month or so ago I noticed the audio being out of sync with the video. I grabbed the latest version (1.3.7) when I noticed it was out hoping that it would fix the glitch but it didn't and then I started noticing some recordings wouldn't play (I think I tried switching decoders before I upgraded gbpvr to try to fix the audio/video sync problem).

I haven't changed any hardware since I built this PC and I really haven't added much software either...I can't think of what would have changed to cause these issues.

Quick rundown of this system:
AMD athlon 64 X2 4200+ (2.21Ghz)
1Gb RAM
AverMedia M780 PCIe TV card
XP pro SP3

As I said above, I can play the files after Defaulting the decoders. However, I'm still having audio/video sync problems with live TV. I had searched around a little bit before and ran across a thread that talked about checking a box on the AC3 filter config. So I downloaded and installed that - no luck. Any things to try or threads to check out (since my problem doesn't fit this thread anymore)?

Thanks much

The problem with using "system default" is you're effectively letting windows pick some random decoder, and its super easy to make change to the system that'll cause the system default decoder to change. Install or remove an app that includes its own decoders and the system defaults will change. I suspect if you went back to 1.2.13 you'd get the exact same behaviour now.

In general it much better to explicitly tell the app what decoders to use.

Okay, that makes sense. Yeah, I wasn't really thinking that the gbpvr version was the problem and figured something else on the system was causing my troubles. As far as using system defaults, I guess I was just sticking with the "if it plays in WMP it should play in gbpvr" line of thinking but I'll have to try more combinations of the decoders.
What is the way to tell what a System default is? Just check what's set for that file extension in windows?

Thanks sub!

Thats usually the case, but there is a few exceptions. For example some decoders, like ffdshow come with a preconfigured list of apps they'll work with, including WMP in that list, and to have them work in GB-PVR the user often has to go in and explicitly add PVRX2.exe to the list of allowed apps.

You can look in the pvxr2.exe-native.log to see the list of decoders Windows chose.
