I've had GBPVR for ages and love it though I only use it lightly. Currently running 1.3.7 with a wired Hauppauge MVP at the other end. Host PC is well-specced and for the following tests I have checked I've newly rebooted and have plenty (well, enough) of temp disk.

All seems fine for playing MP3 and TV rips but playing film-length AVIs seems to invariably bomb around 20mins into the film. The generation of the mpg is happening with ffmpeg AFAICS and the conversion process seems toi complete because if I look in my temp folder afterwards the entire movie is there (with aspect ratio converted).

The error I get in the log is:

all logs attached

Also does it have to do the conversion? teh aspect ration of the asource AVI is as we want it and even though the gbpvr config says 16:9 widescreen the movie seems to get resized to 4:3 (or whatever the old standard is)

Any suggestions?

Have you tried bumping up the 'MVP Transcode PrePlay delay' setting? Bump it up to 16 seconds to see if it helps.

It doesnt attempt to do anything with aspect ratio when it comes to the MVP. It justs ffmpeg to convert it to an MPEG2 file so its playable on the MVP. It might be loosing the aspect ratio flag during this. I seem to remember Zehd had a go at correcting this with his Zprocess utility, so you could look into that.

t0aster,

Could you upload the logs anyway. Seeing those [3] thread log messages in there is very odd.

I am not sure the Hauppauge dongle will accept more than 10 seconds of buffering. If it doesn't work at 16 try at 9
