It has been a while since I tried to record from the HD-PVR 1212 and now I get a black screen with audio. I had problems with the HDHomeRun between now and then and changed to the Cyberlink CODEC for MPEG2, but left H.264 as Arcsoft.

Tonight, I can watch live TV with good video and audio from both, but if I crtl-K to record from the HD-PVR, it goes back to the main GBPVR screen and if I choose to watch Live TV, I get audio and a black screen. Similar results for manual recordings.

I went back to recordings I have watched in the past successfully from the HD-PVR and they also have a black screen with audio.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like user error, but I have no clue as to what to change.

Its not clear it'll help from your description, but make sure you have all the patches from the survival guide installed. (particularly the one that mentions multi-record)

What a ride.

I was on 1.3.7, so after reading the survival guide, I updated to 1.3.11 and downloaded the patches.

Time to upgrade to 1.3.11, about 5 minutes.
Time to download the patches, about 1 min each.
Time to figure out why Vista 64 wouldn't let me overwrite the files with the new ones. . .2+ hours.

I finally got the ability to overwrite the files and booted PVRX2. I tried to play a recording from a week ago and it had video and audio which seemed completely correct. I tried a recording from HDHomeRun as well and it looked fine too.

I lost all ambition to try new things tonight. Sub, your software works great and the upgrade you provided was perfect. Installing the patches was painless after I got permission, but tonight, Vista won and I'm out of energy.

Thanks for the help. I'll try to look at the first post in the forum next time. Sorry for the pre-answered question.

Well, I guess things weren't as good as I thought. I only tried playing back old stuff and it worked. So, since I was frustrated with Vista, I called it a night and just watched TV on the regular box.

Tonight, I tried to record from HDPVR and with crtl-k from Live TV, it ran for about a half second and pause for about 1 1/2, then again etc. After the recording, I checked the playback and it seemed fine.

I then tried to watch Live TV from the HDHomerun and get nothing at all. I can't tune those tuners at all.

To boot, for some reason, the 'gadgets' and menus on Vista are now surrounded by a solid gray background not the normal transparent view, but that's not a GBPVR issue. . .

To make sure I am installing the patches right, I just download the zip and copy the files over the previous ones in the GBPVR directory under program files, correct? I did copy the multi-tune first, then the native.dll over that for the Arcsoft fix. I'm not sure if that is the problem or not.

I'm going to read more on the forums, but I just wanted to say that what appeared to be a total solution might not be the case at this point. I'll see if other postings lead me to the solution prior to requesting more help.

Thanks!

I think all is now well.

HDHomerun with the new install comes in with a default value for the tuners. I needed to follow the set-up for HDHomeRun Instructions for GBPVR by Whurlston2 on the silicondust forum, just like the first time I set it up. All works well now.

My complaint about skipping video disappeared upon reboot, but audio was gone in LiveTV, but not on recordings. I followed the instructions that Benji posted regarding updating the config.xml file and added:

<PreferredHDPVRAudioFormat>AC3</PreferredHDPVRAudioFormat>

to it and all of the system seems to be running fine now.

Thanks to sub for the software and other posters for helping find the steps to fine tune it to my system!

Sandy.
