mkv files - sound out of sync

Playing H264 mkv files I have a problem with the soundtrack being several ms out of sync - enough to be noticeable.

It is possible my system is not powerful enough - 3GHz P4 with HT. 1GB ram, radeon 9200.

But could be something else. Any ideas?

GB-PVR doesnt take part in mkv file playback itslef, it just askes directshow to play it. It'll most likely be related to the default set of decoders being used.
